  • If your dog has not been vaccinated (or had a titer test) then private training is an option.

  • Prior to our first session I will send you a history questionnaire to fill out. This allows me to come to our first session fully prepared. If you are doing private training for behaviour concerns, the first consultation will be in your home and will be closer to 1.5 hours. This allows us to go over the history questionnaire, and begin to work on a modification program.

  • If you're having issues with fear, anxiety, or reactivity please contact me for a consultation. In many cases I will be able to explain what the behaviour means and develop a behaviour modification program for your dog. There may be some cases where I will refer you to a trainer of my choice for either an in person, or a Skype, consultation.

  • Of course! You dog will thank you for it! In order to create new, positive, associations for you dog, we will teach your dog behaviours, and /or, new cue words for already taught behaviours.

  • There are a number of factors that come into play in regards to a dog’s success, including the dedication of the owner. Any trainers guaranteeing results should be regarded with a degree of wariness. What I can commit to us using humane, science-based training methods that are enjoyable for you and your dog, and customized training plans that fit your lifestyle.

  • Yes! Food is one of the strongest motivators for our dogs. In training this is called a “Primary Reinforcer”, which translates to “something that is rewarding because it is necessary for survival.” Food is first used in training as a lure to teach a dog a new behaviour, then to reinforce the behaviour. Your dog won’t need food rewards forever though. As dogs learn to generalize behaviours, the food can be fazed out, so as not to become a bribe.

  • I can do clicker training. In training the clicker is used as a reward marker. In fact, the method I use is essentially clicker training but with a word instead of the clicker. You have 2 seconds to reward a dog for a certain behaviour. A clicker allows you to mark a behaviour the instant it happens so you then have time to produce the reward. While clicker training can be the best method to teach some behaviours, I prefer to use a word as a reward marker instead.

  • Of course! Project K9 wants to see you succeed in reaching your goals with your dog. If you need to extend your program or book follow up sessions we can do that! Follow up sessions are $135 each.

  • Every dog is different and has his/her own learning curve. When we choose to learn something new there will be a period of foundation building. We need. to have patience and stay committed to the outcome
